2009: a great year for BU
2009 was a year of high achievement and the most successful in our 17-year history. We maintained our standing as Number One New University in The Guardian University Guide and the fastest rising of all UK universities in The Times Good University Guide.
Further recognition of our success came in the 2009 Times Higher Education (THE) Awards where we were finalists for two Awards, considered the ‘Oscars’ of UK higher education: ‘University of the Year’ and ‘Research Project of the Year’. Our nomination for these two highly competitive awards underlined our wide-ranging achievements over the last 12 months.
In addition to consolidating high league table positions, we achieved our highest ever score for Overall Student Satisfaction in the National Student Survey (NSS). This followed the findings of the Quality Assurance Agency (QAA) which awarded us the highest category of confidence in our academic standards.
